YouTube has launched 360 degree live video streaming along with 360 degree audio to treat audiences to what can be called as surround live stream experience in its truest essence. There will be much to cheer not just for those who are used to watching live streaming videos but also organisers of festivals and events.

The 360 degree live stream experience will initially be used for Coachella arts festival performances that would be held this weekend. The spatial audio that will accompany the 360 degree video would be surround sound at its best, promising viewers a highly engaging and immersive experience on both fronts-audio and video.

YouTube has been working with Two Big ears and Video Stitch to bring out software that can work with 360 degree live video and spatial sound systems. The new YouTube 360 degree live stream experience can be enjoyed by audiences located all over the globe and promises to up the ante in live stream segment which has seen a slew of launches of late.

The dominant players in the live streaming business are Twitter’s Periscope, Meerkat and Facebook Live. We had reported earlier about the impending launch of Youtube’s live stream feature, YouTube Connect. But the 360 degree live stream feature would be wider and more comprehensive than anything that Google has come out with before.
